HRPBC August 21 Dinner Event

Event Title: The Speed of Trust presented by Tod Taylor, Area Director, FranklinCovey

Trust-related problems like redundancy, bureaucracy, fraud, and turnover put the skids on productivity, divert resources, squander opportunities, and chip away at a company’s brand. On the other hand, leaders who make building trust in the workplace an explicit goal of their jobs elevate trust to a strategic advantage—accelerating growth, enhancing innovation, improving collaboration, quality, and execution, and increasing shareholder value.

Based on the best-selling book by Stephen MR Covey, this Leading at the Speed of Trust overview will address how leaders at all levels can engage in the real work of identifying and closing the trust gaps that exist in teams and organizations. Among the topics to be covered:

  • How ‘The 5 Waves of Trust’ impact every organization
  • ‘Paying Trust Taxes’ vs. collecting ‘Trust Dividends’
  • The 13 Behaviors of High Trust Leaders
  • Creating an environment of high trust that will increase creativity, innovation, quality and a greater commitment to achieving results.

Speaker Bio: Tod Taylor is an Area Director with FranklinCovey and has been helping organizations learn and apply principles of leadership, productivity, trust and execution for over 20 years.  He has worked with leaders from the public and non-profit sectors, small business as well as some of the largest corporations, including Wal-Mart, Disney, Darden Restaurants, Bank of America and Federal Express. A native of the Rocky Mountains, Tod earned his MBA from Utah State University and currently lives in Atlanta Georgia with his wife and four daughters.

Program: Legal Developments and Answers to Questions Every HR-Professional Should Know (Part II)
Presented by Lara Donlon, SPHR, Esq. and Jon O’Connell, Esq.

They are back! Legal Developments and Answers to Questions Every HR-Professional Should Know (Part II) will discuss recent developments in the area of labor and employment law, as well as provide answers and explanations to important HR legal-related questions.   Part II is scheduled to take place on August 21, 2014, but will not require participants to attend Part I to benefit from the information in Part II.  Both sessions will follow the same general framework:  an overview of legislative, regulatory, and administrative developments; a discussion of legal trends and case law illustrating such trends; and finally, answers and explanations to various HR/legal related questions.
In this interactive session, participants will learn:

  • Important legislative, regulatory, and administrative developments and how these impact the HR practitioner.

o Identifying trends is an important part of keeping an organization ahead of the curve.

  • Participants will learn which types of claims are on the rise, and examples of case law illustrating these types of claims.

o With this data, the participants will be better able to provide focused training and compliance efforts within their organizations.

The questions and answer section will provide information regarding various HR legal-related questions that we will provide, including those impacted by developing case law and new statutes, rules, and regulations.
