Title: “Hot Topics In Employment Law”
Speaker: Eric Gordon, Labor & Employment Practice Group, Akerman (click here for Bio)

Eric Gordon will provide insight into the latest employment law issues facing HR professionals and their organizations. Topics that will be covered include marijuana in the workplace, new hire laws, paid sick leave, pay equity, and potential changes to the interpretation of Title VII. Mr. Gordon will also review what to expect in 2020.

Pre-Meeting Workshop

Title: “Corporate Lore and Legends... Organizational Storytelling”
Speaker: Richard P Kropp Jr EdD, SPHR, SHRM-SCP (Click here for Bio)

The purpose of this session is to introduce the participants to the concept of using storytelling in organizations to influence and shape behavior and to build networks that can be used to achieve both individual and system wide success.

The session addresses three core areas of the SHRM Body of Knowledge; Ethical Practice, Business Acumen, and Leadership and Navigation.

Objectives: There are three outcomes the participants can expect to achieve:

1. The participants will have a new awareness of the value of using storytelling as a powerful way to share critical organizational knowledge and experience.
2. The participants will have a grounding in the elements of storytelling including structure, situational understanding, and the value of being authentic in using storytelling.
3. The participants will acquire tools for using storytelling as a means of connecting and building broader organizational networks.

Open to members, student members and guests.
