Our July dinner meeting will identify the nuts and bolts along with important strategies necessary for a competitive total rewards program in today’s tough environment.

Title: "Compensation Strategies to Recruit and Retain the Best Talent"
Speaker: Martina Young (Click here for bio.) 

Employers today are facing new challenges with the multiple generations in the workforce.  Using data from the 2018 National Gallagher Bench-marking Survey, we will explore national trends and best in class practices around total rewards including strategies, planning, total rewards mix, components of an effective program, and communication of your organization’s philosophy and pay plan. 

The presentation will address the different types of pay such as base, incentive, differentials, benefits, and other rewards.  Also, we will discuss identifying your competitive market for different portions of your employee population and developing a compensation philosophy for your organization.  Would you recruit for an accountant the same market you do an environmental services aide?  Understanding how these key elements work together in an additive nature to combine and create a total rewards program that is understood by management and staff, legal, fair, and competitive.   Finally, communication is key.  Your organization can have the most competitive program in the market, but if the employees do not understand it, you are not getting the intended return on the investment.  The goal is for compensation and benefits to become a neutral employee relations topic.

Title: "Understanding and Using Financial Statements to Guide HR Operational Goals"

This workshop is intended to describe basic financial statement presentation and how to interpret financial performance to determine the economic health of the company and discuss how the health of the company impacts the Human Resources Professional.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand basic financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows)
  • Interpreting Financial Statement information to determine the health of the company.
  • Applying information from Financial Statements to Human Resource Goals and Budgeting Process
