HRPBC is a 100% SHRM-affiliated chapter. Individuals seeking to join HRPBC must first join SHRM. You will need your SHRM-issued member number to complete the application process. If you are not yet a member of SHRM, please click here.

Eligible individuals may become Professional, Associate or Student members upon submission of the appropriate application processing fee and approval by the Board of Directors.

To apply for membership, review the following membership categories and complete the appropriate on-line membership application form (preferred method). Submit the on-line  form with your credit card payment to cover the application fee along with any required documentation indicated. Or download the Membership Application here and mail to designated address with a check as form of payment. If applying for Professional Primary or Associate Primary a SHRM designation form must be attached when "mailing" in application and payment.

Once the application and payment are submitted, the application is reviewed by the Board of Directors. The Board reviews applications approximately twice monthly to confirm SHRM membership and to ensure the proper classification of membership (professional, associate, or student) before approval is granted.

All applicants for membership will receive written notification of the status of their membership application following the approval by the Board of Directors’.

Professional Primary
    

Membership shall be limited to:

  • (a) Practitioners of human resource management at the exempt level for at least three (3) years;
  • (b) faculty members holding an assistant, associate or full professor rank in human resources management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university and have at last three (3) years of experience at this level of teaching;
  • (c) full-time consultants with at least 3 years experience practicing in the field of human resources management;
  • (d) individuals certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute; or
  • (e) full-time attorneys with at least three (3) years experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession. 

Only professional members of the Chapter may vote and hold office.

Those who designate HRPBC as their primary chapter are counted by SHRM as having associated with HRPBC, which may provide the chapter with additional financial support from SHRM to assist in providing quality programs and networking opportunities to members Beginning in 2010, all members submit $45 per calendar year (Jan 1 through Dec 31) for membership benefits and privileges. A $40 application fee is also due at the time of application.

Professional Non-Primary
    

Membership shall be limited to:

  • (a) Practitioners of human resource management at the exempt level for at least three (3) years;
  • (b) faculty members holding an assistant, associate or full professor rank in human resources management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university and have at least three (3) years of experience at this level of teaching;
  • (c) full-time consultants with at least 3 years experience practicing in the field of human resources management;
  • (d) individuals certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute; or

Associate Primary
    

Individuals in non-exempt human resource management positions as well as those individuals who do not meet the professional member category, but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in human resource management and the mission of the Chapter, including national affiliate members.

Associate members may not vote and may not hold office in the Chapter.

Individuals in non-exempt human resource management positions as well as those individuals who do not meet the professional member category, but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in human resource management and the mission of the Chapter, including national affiliate members.

Associate members may not vote and may not hold office in the Chapter.

Individuals who have designated another local chapter as their primary chapter, or who do not wish to designate any chapter as their primary chapter, pay dues of $45 each calendar year (Jan 1 – Dec 31). Additionally, a $40 application fee is due at the time of application.

Student
    

Individuals who are actively enrolled in human resources degree programs at the college or university level. Student members may not vote and may not hold office in the Chapter. Student members must be national student members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

The only costs associated with membership for Student membership is maintaining membership with SHRM and a one-time $40 application fee at the time application for membership is submitted
